GSP (Green School Program) was initiated by CSE and now being extended by Prakriti, particularly to Gurgaon. It is our preliminary effort and first step towards making Gurgaon a Prakritik-city (an Eco-city) and spread environment awareness in Gurgaon. GSP aims to gain momentum for environment management plans and embed them into schools. To us it’s a cinch that educating schools’ children and equipping teachers regarding environment or rendering the Environmental Education program in schools will fetch our efforts substantially. We noticed that spreading awareness in context to environment is not feasible until a pragmatic outlook is provided, for this purpose we are keen on using a tool like GSP. GSP will help the schools to audit their school premises, figure out their ecological footprint and find ways to reduce it under our assistance.
Why Green school program?
Environmental issues are of major concern today, and the only feasible solution is Sustainable Development. But policy makers or scientists could not come up with a firm definition and definite deadline to Sustainable development. All we understand by the term is living sustainably, fulfilling our requirements and conserve our natural environment. GSP may not solve all our environmental problems but would help us rendering Environment Education and forming more responsible citizens and raise our concerns for environment.
GSP’s Key Features
Self-audits will include assessment of the following Five elements:
